High School
Visual Arts Program

At Denver Christian High School, the role of faith in work as an artist emerges from who we believe God made us -the call he places on our lives and the commitment he demands of all of us.  Faith is not a component of our art;  it is its source.  This is the core of what we want our art students to understand.

In the area of Visual Arts, Denver Christian High School offers courses in art fundamentals, processes and studio art. Students are encouraged to explore a variety of media as they use their gifts and talents in the visual arts.

  • Graduates have been accepted at art and design programs around the country, including Baylor, Azusa, Calvin, University of Denver, and the Art Institute of Colorado.
  • A 2002 student entry in the Congressional Art Competition earned first place honors. The student’s work was displayed in Washington DC.

Every other year, Denver Christian High School hosts the "Art in the Park" event, which highlights visual and performance arts in the entire Denver Christian K-12 school system.  This event highlights and awards art submissions from students of all levels and even highlights presentation and performance of art forms that are not formally taught at DCS.  This gives students who pursue art and peformance outside of DCS  a chance to be recognized as well as those who produce art within DCS programs.  It is a fun event with a festival atmosphere were DCS families and supporters meet to celebrate God's wonderful gifts!
